This position will work onboard commercial fishing vessels and on alternative platform vessels observing fishing operations of various commercial and recreational fisheries. Duties include the collection, coding and proofing of commercial and recreational catch and bycatch data, protected species interactions, and fishing gear specifications. The employee will be required to work independently scheduling trips with fishermen. The employee must have strong boating and navigation skills . Overnight travel will be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures of fisheries management
Knowledge of estuarine and marine species identification
Experience preparing and maintaining data, records and reports
Experience operating and maintaining boats, motors, sampling gear, and related equipment
Thorough knowledge and understanding of commercial and recreational fisheries and fisheries gear
Experience working with members of the commercial and recreational fishing industry, and the general public

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate's degree in fisheries management from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in the fisheries industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with vessel operation may be required.
