Chevron Shipping Company (CSC) is accepting online applications for the position of Marine Operations Advisor (FPSO) located in Houston, TX through April 3, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
This position reports to the Marine Services Group (MSG) Upstream Services Team (UST) Marine Operations Consulting Services (MOCS) Team Leader. The successful candidate must have very good knowledge of the challenges associated with this position and the operating of FPSO marine systems in the field and relevant offshore projects.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provide functional FPSO and terminal expertise at industry and company workshops. When seconded to a project must be able to:
1. Be a Safety role model
2. Promote Safety Awareness to the project team and in the construction yard
3. Promote CSC operational excellence
4. Provide technical support in consultation with MOCS Team Leader.
Advise or resolve matters pertaining to FPSO and other marine transportation and terminal operations.
Provide leadership for the resolution of complex problems requiring extensive understanding of discipline or area of expertise. Identify and apply technology to solve problems in FPSO operations.
Provide marine advice on projects up to $25 MM Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and occasionally possibly lead projects of larger scope.
Work as a team member of a high performance multi-functional work team for larger, more complex projects or as a team leader for small project portfolios up to $5 MM CAPEX, or $10 MM NPV of limited complexity.
Provide work direction and technical training to less experienced project team members in the area of FPSO and offshore terminal operations.
Lead operational work process improvement efforts and apply metrics to improve functional work processes. Communicate customer and supplier requirements. Facilitate and participate in effective internal meetings utilizing quality tools and principles.
Coordinate activities across multiple disciplines and direct work of specific contractors and contracting plans.
Develop programs to meet general objectives outlined by supervisor and other parties.
Administer the operating budget for the team when instructed by the MSG Management.
Minimum 15 years experience on board crude oil/product carriers as Master Mariner, Chief Officer, Mooring Master or Marine Superintendent of Offshore Facilities. The person for this position will have been qualified to a standard of STCW 95 Class 1 (Masters) Certificate of Competency (Unrestricted) with a Dangerous Liquid Cargo Endorsement - Petroleum (In Charge).
Demonstrated knowledge of Upstream, Downstream, Offshore Terminals, Shipping business models and how they fit together, and proven ability to advocate Company's position to customers, external parties, International Forums, etc. Identifying, sharing, facilitating implementation of Industrial best practices in all OE areas.
Team member experience formulating and executing moderately complex FPSO projects or leading small similar projects.
Strong marine operations knowledge in key areas such as: Marine oil & gas terminals, oil tankers/gas carriers, FPSOs Marine Systems, Offloading Systems, and Towing systems; Environmental protection, safety, reliability, efficiency and regulatory compliance issues; Auditing of offshore marine terminals including FPSO.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to converse effectively and diplomatically orally and in writing with multinational audiences.

Minimum 2 years experience working with multinational team.
Experience in tanker operations is essential and it is expected that the candidate has previous experience on tank vessels in a senior capacity as well as operational experience as a marine operator on an FPSO preferably in a senior or supervisory position.
