Position Summary

Information Management Analyst manages the collection and dissemination of oil refining oriented market information by maintaining and enhancing the Market Analysis department’
s electronic and physical repository of resource materials, including but not limited to: recurring publications from consultants, industry groups & government organizations; periodic refining reports, studies & white papers; internal studies, periodicals and relevant public information The position will also provide research and analytical support to the department’s projects and ongoing activities

Major Accountabilities:
  • Provide stewardship of electronic and physical Market Analysis library of resource materials
  • Work with the Market Analysis team to improve the organizational structure (taxonomy) of how information is stored, searched and accessed
  • Enhance department productivity tools (lists, directories, search engines, keyword tags, databases, IT solutions, etc.) to allow accurate and complete information to be found quickly and easily
  • Improve document management workflow lifecycles, automating manual processes to the extent feasible
  • Provide research assistance to Market Analysis team in identifying and locating specific requested information in the library and other external information sources in support of projects and strategic planning activities
  • Maintain an organized and functional information repository to allow Market Analysis personnel to efficiently find targeted information
  • Maintain library of contracts for purchased information along with distribution lists, passwords, budgets and renewal dates to comply with contractual obligations
  • Verify services received from external consultants. Code and process vender invoices for those services rendered. Conduct monthly verification of all expenses to ensure correctness
  • Maintain a process to capture and receive miscellaneous information of interest (i.e. “clipping files”) from non-traditional sources
  • Maintain list of relevant industry conferences and studies available from consultants that may be of interest to Market Analysis team
  • Provide training to new members of the Market Analysis team on what information sources are available and how to most effectively utilize library resources
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with preference for the following disciplines: library & information sciences, media services, information systems, business administration
  • Minimum 3 years information research, information management or library experience preferred
  • Excellent PC skills with demonstrated skills in Excel and PowerPoint required with broad exposure to database/information search engines
  • Exposure to electronic document management systems and processes a plus
  • Requires attention to detail and a high level of organizational skill
  • Ability to use research resources in support of department projects required
  • Requires independent judgment and decision making; candidate must be capable of working in a team and independently, under time constraints
  • Must be adaptable to working on multiple projects simultaneously and to changing priorities
  • Ability to summarize information, write reports and business correspondence required
  • Requires ability to become knowledgeable on a wide range of topics with a high level ability to learn
  • Refining industry exposure and knowledge of petroleum industry nomenclature a plus
