The Quantitative Research and Analytics Department within Allstate is responsible for supporting other internal business units with a broad range of research and analytical projects.
The Market Intelligence (MI) Analyst is responsible for partnering with Product Management to drive state-specific growth and profitability results through comprehensive analysis, using internal and external data and tools along with research on competitor and market actions. This position resides on the Competitive Intelligence team and primarily supports the auto and home personal lines of insurance.
Collect and analyze data from a variety of sources to better inform and influence decisions regarding the price, coverage, or risk management of our products
Organize the information into useable, actionable analyses directed to product management for use in strategic and tactical decision-making
Identify key market or risk segments, and conduct analyses with business partners to make joint recommendations to achieve corporate goals
Support the production of daily, weekly, or monthly standardized reports
Explore new data sources and stay connected with other teams within the department to identify enhancements to current tools and processes
Intermediate: communication - both written and oral
Intermediate: quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Beginner/Intermediate: experience in insurance operations and rating plans
Beginner/Intermediate: the use of data sources and applications to conduct research
Beginner: project management and time management skills
Beginner: process development
Intermediate: Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Proven technical aptitude and ability to learn new software
Proven attention to detail
Beginner (not required): Programming language/data manipulation tools (SAS, SQL)
Beginner (not required): GUI and web-based query tools
1-3 years of experience in the insurance industry or in an analytical position.
Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in relevant quantitative courses (such as mathematics, economics, or finance) is preferred but not required.
