The purpose of this job is to develop, recommend, implement, and monitor Business Development programs and actions involved in expanding passenger and cargo enterprises at the airport. Duties include, but are not limited to: supervising staff; directing activities; conducting research; forecasting traffic; overseeing budget and expenditures; preparing reports; and processing associated paperwork.

Administrative Duties (General) :
Conducts research and analysis to in an effort to determine and forecast passenger and cargo traffic for potential new air routes and service (details below) Identifies and recommends potential new air service/airlines for the City/airport. Forecasts airport traffic, including aircraft operations, passengers, and cargo. Meets with airline officials to review operations review data; provides marketing advice as requested. Oversees budget and expenditures for New Business Development / Innovations area. Monthly Aviation Activity Reports & Forecasting and Data Analysis Complete, distribute and present the monthly aviation activity report that includes passengers, cargo and aircraft operations by the last day of each month (for previous month). Develop distribute aviation activity forecasts for all peak holiday travel periods. Compile and distribute the bi-weekly advance booking reports. Perform ad-hoc data analysis as required by DOA management and City of Atlanta.
Assist DOA’s Information Services Division with the development of an “extranet” plan that will implement an automated process to collect monthly airport traffic information from various stakeholders. Aviation Market Data Assist Aviation Development Manager on researching and developing statistical information for 8 – 10 Hartsfield-Jackson “route study” proposals per year. Assist Route Development Manager with updating the Division’s Route Development Plan with generally 2-3 updates during the year. Update on a regular basis relevant general airport information associated with ATL airlines, routes and destinations served. Serve as the Department webmaster and ensure that all data contained on the New Business Development/Innovations-related pages is current and accurate. ATL Dashboard Conceive, develop, and implement the concept of the “ATL Dashboard.” Liaise with other DOA departments to secure relevant management information to be included in the monthly ATL Dashboard Report. Perform the required data collection and analysis required for the report. Present and distribute the monthly ATL Dashboard by the end of the third week of the following month
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or any Aviation-related program required; minimum three years of experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Ability to speak clearly in front of various groups necessary. Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license before, or once hired.
KNOWLEDGE OF JOB: Has considerable knowledge of business development, marketing, statistical and financial practices, policies and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities. Has considerable knowledge of applicable policies, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job. Knows how to keep abreast of any changes in the aviation industry, various policies, methods, operations, budgetary and equipment needs, etc. Is able to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of management, other employees, stakeholders, and members of the general public. Is able to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear and effective manner. Has good organizational, management, human relations, and technical skills. Has the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures, and related information. Has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations. Is knowledgeable and skilled in the use of computers. Is able to read, understand and interpret marketing and financial reports and related materials. Work Delegation Reports to Director – New Business Development Potential to supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff, handling employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. Interfaces routinely with airline managers, City of Atlanta executives and other officials, Chamber / Convention / Visitor Bureaus, as well as State of GA development team in the performance of duties; also coordinates activities with the Marketing / PR Management team and DOA Director, Federal, State, and City transportation officials, foreign government officials, other City of Atlanta department personnel, consultants. Record Keeping and Documentation : Prepares and presents a variety of reports including airline service proposals for marketing airport facilities to airlines, weekly marketing report to relay project status to management, project reports required by the division manager, and strategic marketing plan used as design tools for future marketing initiatives. Documents analyses of passenger and cargo traffic trends; relays pertinent information and data to consultants, real estate companies, aviation industry officials, etc.
