The Ocean Community YMCA, located on the beautiful Rhode Island shore, is seeking a Marketing & Membership Development Director to work at the Westerly-Pawcatuck Branch in Westerly, RI.
The ideal candidate is a brand strategist whose expertise lies in leading strategic internal and external communications to drive business success while positioning the Ocean Community YMCA as a cause-driven organization.
Under the direction of the Vice-President, the Marketing & Membership Development Director will provide senior level leadership and direction for the development and execution of comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations strategies and for Membership Development.
The Marketing & Membership Development Director will develop and implement the marketing plan for the Ocean Community YMCA ensuring consistency and integrity of the Y Brand in all communications.
The Marketing & Membership Development Director will oversee media relations, advertising, digital communications and market/customer research as well as overseeing and executing marketing programs and events, member and staff communication initiatives and production of marketing as well as the responsiblity for membership revenues, creating and targeting marketing strategies and measuring member satisfaction.
The candidate should be able to research, recommend and implement marketing strategies that drive the businesses of the organization, resulting in increased membership and program enrollment.
The candidate must possess excellent written and verbal skills, the ability to do public speaking and to represent the YMCA brand in a professional and appealing manner to all prospective donors, volunteers, staff and in the community.
The candidate should increase the visibility and enhance the positive image of the Ocean Community YMCA in key marketing areas through efficient and effective application of a broad range of broadcast, print, interactive and internet social media tools, to creatively enhance volunteer, member, donor, employee, community, government and business outreach for marketing and public relations initiatives.
The candidate must possess a proven track record of demonstrated membershp revenue growth and innovative advertising campaigns.
Basis requirements should include a career history in membership sales and revenue responsibility in excess of $2MM.
Will serve as primary staff support to the Vice-President of Operations.
The candidate must have proven ability to relate to top community leaders and developing professional relationships.
The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Y locations in strategically growing their membership revenues.
Supervision of3 full time and 20 part-time staff.
Must develop strategies to increase membership sales and lower attrition at all levels with mid-month and year-end forcasting.
Ability to implement member quality standards and satisfaction survey action planning.
Ability to maintain membership outcome measurements.
Ability to develop operating goals, objectives and plan for the marketing and communications area; monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropirate action to ensure that the goals and ojectives are met.
Outstanding communication skills are required.
Ability to motivate and relate positively with others is highly desired.
The member relations aspect of this poistion requires that relationship bulding be the number one priority.
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and/or Communications preferred. 5+ years' experience in membership, marketing and/or sales preferred. Experience with updating and maintaining websites and social media. Previous experience managing staff. Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software. Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communicatin skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
YMCA Director preferred.
Must complete successful criminal background check.

Salary: $38,000 - $45,000
Additional Compensation Details: The Ocean Community YMCA provides paid vacation, sick and personal time as well as paid Life and AD&D Insurance and Short Term Disability and Long 'Term Disability insurance to full time employees. Enrollment in the YMCA Retirement Plan is mandatory for employees once the eligibility requirements have been completed with the employer contributing 7% to the plan on behalf of participating employees. Medical and Dental benefits are available to full time employees who pay a part of the cost.
