About Samahope: Samahope is an experiment within Samasource to help fund life-saving surgeries via a crowdsourcing platform. Samahope partners with local charity hospitals and global health organizations with a track record of excellent care and fiscal discipline. These partners have highly accomplished medical volunteers who travel to poor places to perform surgeries and other life-saving interventions.Sama means “equal ” in Sanskrit and reflects our desire to provide equal access to basic medical care to low-income people. Focused initially in rural Sierra Leone, where 1 in 8 women die of maternal health-related causes, we are helping to fund fistula repair surgeries.

Over time, we will expand Samahope ’s coverage to surgeries and conditions affecting those in the poorest areas of the world.About Samasource: Samasource is an award-winning technology social enterprise that provides dignified, internet-based work to people living in poverty. We are each driven by the power the web can have to help save lives of women across the world. Candidates will have an opportunity to shape and contribute meaningfully to getting Samahope off the ground.The Job: We are looking for a rockstar Strategic Marketing Associate to help launch Samahope.

The Strategic Marketing Associate will work on critical online marketing and fundraising efforts. The associate will get to put their stellar online marketing skills to work to change the lives of women. She/he will also get involved across general strategy and operations (e.g., partner outreach) to help ensure Samahope ’s success.The associate program is a 10-week stipend internship where the Strategic Marketing Associate will get real start-up experience in the crowdfunding and global health spaces. Exceptional associates will have the potential to stay on full-time to continue to build and grow Samahope.Responsibilities: Build online presence for Samahope through social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest)Help develop an online marketing approach with Director to drive traffic to site, including media coverage, blog posts, email promotions, online ads, etc.Create powerful marketing and communications content (e.g., patient stories, tweets, site updates)Review and monitor success of different marketing efforts; provide feedback and updates to leadership team to improve initiativesManage online fundraising campaign, including designing major components of campaign, driving traffic to campaign via social media outlets, tracking progress and measuring successWork closely with leadership on additional fundraising effortsInterface with current partners to develop patient profiles and stories and with potential partners on scope of potential partnershipPerform additional tasks as they relate to launch and ongoing operations of SamahopeRequirements: BA/BS with a strong academic record from a top-tier university.

Degree in business, economics, marketing, communications or other relevant fieldAt least 1-2 years related experience, or a new graduate with a successful track recordPassion for online marketing and social mediaExperience with or interest in fundraising tactics for social impact organizationsStrong writing and communication skillsExceptional attention to detail and analytical mindsetAt home in a fast-paced environment that requires excellent time-management and the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectivelyInterest in global health and international development a plusOutgoing personality and great sense of humorMust be eligible to work in the U.S.
