Position Summary
This position is responsible for project management associated with the implementation and ongoing management of the company’s product line. Using an established project management methodology, this individual will interface with internal and external partners associated with project and product management. The person in this position is responsible for maintaining the highest level of project and product knowledge and must effectively communicate (verbally and in writing). The successful candidate will be focused, organized and have a demonstrated ability to manage projects and bring issues to a quick and appropriate resolution. Financial services experience, particularly in the area group retirement and annuities is preferred.

Responsibilities Include:
The Project Managers will perform these primary tasks and responsibilities:
 Collaborate with other MarCom business units (i.e. Communications Consultants, Strategy, and Creative Services) to create Marketing Central projects and campaigns
 Manage projects within Marketing Central, both on the individual project level or campaign level
 Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
 Identify and define project tasks and resource requirements
 Manage the lifecycle of projects and documents, archiving as necessary
 Collaborate with other MarCom business units to plan and schedule project timelines
 Manage cross-project items such as libraries, project accounting, event calendar, and budget coding
 Consistently monitor and report project status to internal and external stakeholders
 Must demonstrate both theoretical and practical knowledge all business lines and distribution channels including VALIC, Western National, and American General Life Companies.

Position Requirements

The Ideal Candidate will have:
 BA/BS in business management, marketing, or related studies plus 5+ years marketing communications experience with at least one year of experience related group retirement or annuity product knowledge.
 Highly developed project management skills
 Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills – ability to understand impacts of simple to complex concepts.
 Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
 Proven experience in presenting ideas to key contributors throughout an organization.
 Ability to visualize and/or contribute to the presentation of an idea or project (from concept and design to presentation).
 Impeccable organization and follow-up skills.
 Annuity (variable, indexed) experience (preferably in a service, sales, marketing, or project management capacity).
 Industry knowledge (understand service, sales, distribution, and regulatory matters).
 Excellent MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) Skills.
 Ability to foster effective working relationships with peers within and across organizational lines.
 Proven track record in completing assigned tasks and projects.
 Strong understanding of various business areas of companies (such as IT, legal, sales, marketing, service) and how each area contributes to the effective management of new initiatives.
 Ability to quickly adapt and adjust to change.
 Results rather than task orientation.
 Experience with marketing on demand or any other project management software is a plus (Marketing Central, Unica, MarComCentral, etc.)
