MARKETING MANAGER, CONFERENCES plans and executes the marketing of CHI’s conferences, up to 20 events per year. This is a mid-level, non-supervisory position which reports to the Marketing Director.

Duties include:
  • Establish conference promotional goals
  • Develop and execute promotion plans
  • Identify target audience and effectively communicate reasons to attend
  • Create email campaigns and press releases
  • Evaluate advertising activities (print, electronic, display, insert and direct mail)
  • Sort and correlate database names for specific promotions
  • Frequently communicate with (via phone, email and in person) key associations, publications, sponsors and exhibitors to explore cooperative marketing opportunities; and fulfill barter agreements
  • Build contingency plans for securing audience ratios
  • Monitor conference promotion plan ROI and ROR; and
  • Analyze market reactions to promotional programs, and propose & execute follow-up promotional plans to stimulate increased registration activity and meet changing market and competitive conditions.

Occasional travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four to six years of comparable marketing experience
  • Aggressive and creative marketer with strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to negotiate and sell ideas
  • Strong computer skills: database experience, email design, MS Word and Excel proficiency
  • Ability to write compelling market copy
  • Ability to effectively present information, negotiate and work with managers, media partners, and the general public
  • Experience tracking and completing multiple tasks in a time-sensitive and fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.)
