Howard Community College is seeking an experienced marketing professional for the Office of Public Relations and Marketing. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications, the position of Marketing Manager is instrumental in the tactical execution of the college’s integrated marketing communications strategy.
This position is responsible for managing the quality, consistent application of HCC’s brand messaging and visual identity in college publications, media advertising, promotional collateral, and other external marketing communications.
Marketing knowledge and strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills are utilized to deliver effective and efficient strategic marketing communications, including, but not limited to: market research and analysis; consultation and collaboration with clients and public relations/marketing team; promotional and informational copywriting; management of design, production, distribution, and purchasing; measurement and evaluation of results.
Deliverables include, but are not limited to: media advertising; key college publications; promotional collateral for fundraising events, academic programs, student services, visual and performing art events; promotional and wayfinding signage. Both print and electronic marketing tools are utilized, including email marketing, web, video, and social media.
This position assists Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications in editorial management of biannual college magazine and accompanying quarterly e-newsletter.
The Marketing Manager supervises four full-time professional/technical creative services staff members.
This position also serves as an alternate crisis communications manager to assist in execution of the college’s emergency operations procedures.
The Marketing Manager utilizes excellent leadership and communication skills to work collaboratively with a wide variety of faculty, staff, and students.
$58,180 minimum annual salary. Plus excellent medical insurances, paid leaves and tuition reimbursement. This position is not overtime eligible.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing/ public relations or related field. Minimum five years of experience as a marketing professional.
Strong knowledge of the marketing mix, and demonstrated skills in market analysis, strategic planning, and application of marketing communications tools, including advertising and publicity.
Demonstrated skills in effective writing of both informational and promotional copy, proofreading, and editing for multiple media.
Knowledge of emerging marketing media, Internet, social networking, user-defined content and interactivity, and other marketing trends.
Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to supervise.
Skills in Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of Adobe Creative suite. Knowledge of printing production basics.
Master’s Degree Preferred, in related field.
Higher education marketing experience.
Minimum one year supervisory experience.
Basic knowledge of web content management systems.
