About the Job
As a Senior Marketing Manager of Consumer Marketing you will be responsible for designing, testing, and implementing new ways to grab the attention of the customers who currently don’t engage with our communications, and to deepen participation from those who are already engaged. This role offers the right marketing leader an opportunity to massively reduce global carbon emissions by managing the experiences of millions of residential customers around the world, changing the way those customers think about and consume energy.
We are looking for a first-rate leader and consumer marketing innovator who can help take Opower’s Consumer Marketing team to the next creative level during an exciting period of international growth into competitive utility markets. Utility customers who receive our communications currently reduce their energy usage by an average of 2.5%, are more likely to participate in other utility energy efficiency programs, and are happier with their utility company. With your help we will quadruple our impact and turn our platform into a valuable marketing tool for our clients. It’s a tall task, but we’ve assembled the creative minds to figure out how to do it.
In this role, you will work closely with the Engagement Managers who directly manage the relationships with the utility clients for whom we’re running marketing campaigns. You will also be a valuable resource for our copy writers and designers, crafting creative customer engagement programs. Throughout it all, you will stay abreast to our Product’s evolving capabilities, ensuring we have the right infrastructure in place to support your strategies. This is a ‘soup to nuts’ role – you will engage with clients’ marketing departments, integrating our behavioral science practices into their marketing plans, work with creative resources to spawn and develop engaging campaigns, and incorporate the most successful elements into our programs across clients. In addition, you’ll be instrumental to improving internal marketing agency processes, always striving to make what we do and how we do them better.
Write creative briefs and serve as a creative resource to our copywriters and graphic designers
Design best-in-class residential marketing campaigns, with guidelines on messaging, positioning and channel elements
Advise our clients’ marketing departments on how our program can integrate with their marketing plans and enhance their brand
Provide ongoing support for creative concepting of new engagement campaigns and new feature rollouts
Utilize our Analytics team’s findings, transforming big data insights into powerful, persuasive customer engagement
Understand the nuts and bolts of our Product platform, leveraging its configurability to support our clients’ residential marketing needs
You have a minimum of five years of consumer direct marketing experience, driving results in both print and email channels. Social media, IVR, SMS and online advertising experience is a great plus.
You are a natural working with creative types. You can put together a marketing plan, creative briefs AND collaborate with designers and copywriters to bring it all together.
You can easily establish yourself as a marketing thought partner with clients’ marketing departments.
You are comfortable with technology and are energized to engage with a complex, configurable Product and lots of internal tools.
You have a passion for turning analytic insights into high-impact actionable strategies.
You know the importance of delivering the right message to the right target, and you have proven success developing segmented campaigns.
You are great at strategy AND tactics – and you enjoy operating at both levels. You generate great new ideas, and then get your hands dirty to deliver great results.
You thrive in an entrepreneurial setting, where constant change is the norm.
You have strong abilities to work as a member of a high-performance, multi-tasking team, including efficient time management of multiple projects and deadlines, and effective communication to all levels within the organization.
