Professional and Noncredit Education (PNE) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term Marketing Manager position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.
Professional and Noncredit Education (PNE) is a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization with a commitment to meet the educational needs of professionals, lifelong learners, youth and vulnerable or underserved audiences across the state by providing access to Oregon State's programs of excellence. We offer courses in the areas of gardening, small farms, music, museum interpretation, sustainability, beer brewing, digital communication and many other areas. This position will play a crucial part in advancing PNE's mission.
The PNE Marketing Project Manager develops targeted marketing plans for new and existing continuing education programs, which increasingly rely on Internet marketing strategies and website communications in addition to traditional tactics. The Marketing Project Manager is PNE's point of contact for PNE's graphic designer and contractors who support PNE with graphic design. In this capacity, the Marketing Project Manager must manage visual brand across an enterprise and various marketing channels.
In addition to working closely with PNE staff to implement plans, this position maintains a close working relationship with those responsible for marketing in University Relations and Marketing, the Alumni Association, Extended Campus and Extension and Experiment Station Communications. The PNE Marketing Project Manager works closely with the Director of PNE, Outreach and Engagement Marketing Manager and the Extended Campus Marketing team.
50% - Targeted Program Marketing:
Manages targeted marketing efforts for new and existing continuing education programs and annual marketing plans. Determines media mix for specific programs, coordinates design, production and distribution of marketing materials, routinely assesses marketing efforts using surveys and enrollment tracking.
30%- Internet Marketing Initiatives:
Works with PNE project managers to coordinate resources and timelines for broad and targeted Internet marketing initiatives, including Search Engine Marketing (SEM). Create and track targeted ads in Facebook, Google AdWords, and advertising with other websites.
Create a social media strategy and calendar of activities to increase and engage fans in Facebook, Twitter and other social media venues.
Works with PNE web developers to apply Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactics to effective writing on websites to rank highly in search. Oversees content accuracy of all PNE websites.
15% - Market Plan Development:
Develops and implements a comprehensive Marketing Communication Plan. Works closely with the Extended Campus marketing group to implement recruitment and enrollment strategies and track results via the Extended Campus CRM tool.
Plans and participates in other campus wide marketing initiatives, including development of broad media campaigns in coordination with University Marketing. Participates in design, review and production of marketing communication pieces.
5% - Leadership & Professional Development:
Coordinates marketing planning with the Director of PNE and provides leadership to the unit for marketing-related work. Participates in professional development activities related to duties assigned. Participates in unit and division events.
Position Duties (continued):
Working Conditions/Work Schedule:
Bachelor's degree in marketing/communications or related field and three years of professional marketing/ communications experience, including development and implementation of marketing plans, OR equivalent education and professional experience.
Project management experience, including demonstrated success and willingness to participate on teams.
Experience with Internet marketing, including promotion via Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), and emerging social media tools and technologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including copy-writing and editing.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Master's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or in a field relevant to duties outlined in the position description.
Basic understanding of design principles as related to the development of marketing materials and ability to help graphic designer create marketing collateral.
At least five years of marketing management experience.
Basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience using a Customer Relationship Management system.
