Responsible for the development and management of marketing programs to support Best Friends initiatives (Cat Initiatives, Pit Bull Initiatives and Puppy Mill Initiatives). Creates and implements marketing plans to further organization’s goals to educate, influence, engage and elicit support for critical programming to reduce the number of animals being killed in shelters.

Essential Duties:

  • Develops marketing initiative plans and goals, including:
    • Project scope, parameters, budget, and timeline
    • Objectives (financial and marketing)
    • Marketing strategy, tactics and integrated project plan
    • Market assessment
  • Works with the programs staff to create marketing strategies and tactics that support goals relating to Best Friends’ initiatives
  • Spearheads coordination and implementation of initiative marketing efforts among communications division asset managers, including social media, website, magazine, newsletters and more
  • Manages program activities against goals and negotiates and works with all vendors/partners/volunteers to execute plans
  • Negotiates, secures and tracks effectiveness of paid media buys as needed
  • Ensures that all plans and collateral materials adhere to established brand guidelines and are consistent with the priorities of achieving the mission of No More Homeless Pets
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Marketing Manager
Experience/Requirements:
  • BS or BA in Marketing, Advertising, Business or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years prior marketing or program management experience
  • Exceptional organizational, planning and integration skills
  • The ideal person for this job would be a professional, upbeat, energetic, flexible, takes initiative, uses tact and diplomacy, collaborative and enjoys working in a team-based environment
  • Work requires continual attention to detail. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills are imperative for success
  • Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), listening and customer service skills
  • Ability to professionally advocate Best Friends' positions on issues
  • Strong skill set in writing and editing written material. Good command of the English language
  • Must have proficiency with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, research, and presentation software (Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Comfortable learning new software programs and using online information systems
Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of time working at a computer with repetitive typing, arm and hand motion
