Marriage & Family Therapist
The Castlemont/Youth Uprising Health Clinic is dedicated to providing comprehensive health services that liberates the positive power and intelligence of young adults. We are committed to promoting long term health and wellness in a non-judgmental, youth centered, confidential environment. This is a school linked health clinic, operated by Children's Hospital & Research Center at Oakland, a joint venture between Adolescent Medicine and Psychiatry.
We are seeking a licensed Masters Level Therapist with experience working with a culturally diverse population of youth and their families. This is a position that requires a commitment and dedication to the community at large and a passion for working with inner city youth. The therapist will be providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy as well as outreach to the community and other collaborative work with the school and county partners. S/he will be working on a multi-disciplinary, multi-system team. This position requires specialized experience with adolescents, community violence, and compound trauma. Bi-lingual in Spanish highly desirable.
Provide counseling using applied psychotherapeutic techniques to enable individuals and the family to mature and grow. Provide services with individuals, families or groups wherein interpersonal relationships are examined for the purpose of achieving more adequate, satisfying, and productive individual and/or family adjustments
Masters Degree in marriage and family and child counseling, marital and family therapy, psychology, clinical or counseling psychology, or counseling with an emphasis in either marriage, family and child counseling or marriage and family therapy from an accredited school.
Experience working with children and families with a culturally diverse population.
Licensed with the Board of Behavioral Science in California as a Marriage & Family Therapist
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Normal an atypical child development. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary setting with a diverse group of professional and support staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and problem solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to crises. Position requires: 1) moderate physical activity such as sitting, traveling, walking, driving, bending, lifting and computer usage; 2) ability to work independently, organize tasks, problem solve, make decisions, and handle multiple priorities; 3) interpersonal skills with co-workers and client families in varied settings.
