Position Summary

The Massage Therapist administers professional therapeutic and sports massage to Rec Spa clients. They must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments and be willing to learn spa specific massage and body treatment offerings; must possess excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to learn the service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of clients. They must hold and maintain a current state license. Massage Therapists must perform within certification and/or training standards and/or Code of Ethics and demonstrate a professional appearance and demeanor both on and off campus that favorably represents the University of Arizona and the department of Campus Recreation. Massage Therapists are encouraged to participate in promotions and events.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct massage therapy sessions in accordance with industry standards and state licensing guidelines. *Present oneself and massage therapy services with the highest level of professionalism. *Provide exceptional customer service. *Attend all therapists meetings, mandatory training sessions, and Campus Recreation staff training; meetings, training and orientation are paid at minimum wage. *Take preventative action for hazards and injuries and immediately communicate issues to direct supervisor. *Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to and be prepared for EVERY massage therapy session.

Additional Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess valid certification and licensure. *Excellent communication and customer service skills. *Be proficient in various body work techniques and modalities. *Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. *Weekdays and weekends availability.
