Role Overview

The Master Data Specialist will be responsible for entering and modifying data in the SAP enterprise databases as defined by policy and procedure. This will be done within defined policy and procedures, meeting agreed upon data entry SLA’s, in compliance and with problem resolution as required.

In addition, this role will support key strategic departmental objectives, including but not limited to:

The extension of current business rules and processes to cover European requirements

The tracking of data quality improvements

Support (as needed) for data conversion ahead of future Novelis 2.0 deployments

This position requires insight into multiple business and technology processes. The role will blend a core foundation of technology and methodology.


Receive, review and update Master File change request as defined by procedures

Validate if “change” complies with policy for type of request

Validating data that enters and exits business processes

Determine if Master File request complies with global rules

Notify Requester of disposition of Request

Work with business users to close open/pending request items

Set up items/values as appropriate

Modify Master file in accordance with procedure

Clean up Master File as defined by procedure

Confirm data access and usage of data is for its intended purpose

Accessing information (meta-data) available about how the data was defined for the business and how the data was produced in the information systems in order to use the data for its intended purpose

Ensuring the quality, completeness, and accuracy of data usage according to the definition of the data provided by the Data Stewards

Communicate new and changed business


Previous experience working with a global process manufacturing company is desired.

Fluent in English

Able to support travel as needed

Bachelors degree in a major that supports the role

3+ years of business experience

Experience is data cleansing, classification and coding of transactions

Excellent communication skills (written & oral)

Knowledge of ERP- SAP helpful

Knowledge of material definition (e.g. products, bills of material, routings)

Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)

Excellent customer service skills

Excellent interpersonal skills with the demonstrated capability of developing and maintaining internal and external positive and professional relationships
