We currently have an opening for a Master Production Scheduler at our Des Moines facility. Responsible for developing and maintaining documentation of all customer programs for the plant. Creates and manages MPS plan for customer programs including creation of planned orders needed to support program requirements and release of planned orders to work orders. Provides historical shipment data by item monthly to support review and development of customer forecasts. Maintain planner, forecast and supplier data in Data 3 and SAP for all assigned areas. Requisition and maintain raw materials and packaging inventories required to meet production demands while minimizing inventory required supporting operations. Develop and maintain internally developed reports and queries supporting shipment, planning and purchasing functions. Track and analyze sales and operational information supporting department and plant improvement efforts. Provides primary backup coverage for management of railroad issues, railcar placement and unloading schedules and management of silo inventories. Provides primary backup for Operations Planner position. Review and publish 6 week production projections used to develop Dept manning plans. Works closely with sales, CSR's, management, vendors, and customers to coordinate production and shipping activities, and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays. Analyze sales and operational data in support of identification and improvement of key plant metrics, including service, waste, downtime, and efficiencies. Attend scheduling meetings to monitor and manage scheduling and operational needs and to provide input on customer and capacity issues as needed. Develop and maintain standard work all department job duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in related field with a minimum of four years' related experience in a manufacturing environment or 7+ years' of closely related experience in manufacturing environment. Experience in data base management and/or development of reporting tools preferred. Skills & Abilities Needed: Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in identifying and addressing process improvements as well as provide leadership and drive improvement efforts. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, able to work as a team player and influence peers and management decisions. Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as good understanding of business processes. Ability to use knowledge to influence business decisions. Must have strong time management skills to handle multiple ongoing projects in addition to day to day process problems. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, Access, and development of queries.
