Role Summary/Purpose

The Master Scheduler will lead a team of five production planners to plan and control all scheduling activities to balance production and inventory levels with demand to support AO’s customer service goals, inventory goals, and capacity utilization requirements.

The Master Scheduler will leverage change management skills to drive improvements in business performance related to operations scheduling, and Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP).

Primary responsibilities will be to:
Lead production planners to develop production schedules for finished goods and component items based on equipment, labor, and raw material availability

Lead creation and implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and visual management throughout the operations process

Publish and perform root cause analysis on key metrics including customer delivery, plan vs. actual production, supermarket & finished goods inventory, and master schedule stability

Lead a supply and demand planning process that is fully integrated with the ERP system

Develop planners and ensure they are efficiently using planning tools within the ERP system

Proactively identify supply constraints and develop countermeasures such as level loading production, working overtime, adding equipment, outsourcing or expediting

Lead weekly supply planning meeting

Develop and implement demand planning module in the ERP system

Lead monthly demand planning meeting

Develop and implement monthly S&OP process

Interact frequently with sales, marketing, and manufacturing personnel to plan and execute special and regional promotions

Ensure that all new products are launched with adequate safety stock, a full supply chain pipeline, and stable manufacturing

Maintain scheduling parameters such as lead times, lot sizes and cycle times

Work with engineers and purchasing to manage materials for special engineering projects

Principle Relationships:
Direct reports: Production planners (5)

Inside the company: Plant management and staff, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Executive Team

Outside the company: Outsourced suppliers, communication with some customers

Supervisor: Supply Chain Director

Required Experience:
Education and experience requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or Mathematics

Minimum of five years experience in master scheduling, manufacturing planning, or manufacturing engineering in an ERP environment – medical or orthodontia preferred

Requires a strong MRP/ERP systems background

Excellent teamwork, organizational, verbal, and written skills

Proven leadership ability with implementing and sustaining change

Knowledge of inventory management principles

Knowledgeable in planning, input/output control, product structures, bill of materials, routings, demand management, stockroom, EOQ, purchasing and actual accounting systems.

Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project

Strong analytical skills

Experience implementing MRP or Demand Planning preferred

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics/NAV preferred

APICS certification/training preferred
