The Material Handler is responsible for both supporting and maintaining all aspects of warehouse operations, including, but not limited to, shipping, receiving and warehouse equipment maintenance. The Material Handler is also responsible for controlling the movement of products to production by lot sequence and coordinating the movement of raw material deliveries and finished goods.

Specific Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Operate all equipment related to warehouse activities – this includes, but is not limited to, propane gas or electric powered stand-up or sit-down industrial forklifts to push, pull, lift, stack, or move products

Completes product request forms from production in an accurate and timely manner

Receives, stores and distributes materials, finished goods and products within the company guidelines

Understand and follow all SOP’s related to the operation of the warehouse

Adhere to all Catalent site safety policies and procedures

Read, comply, and perform required documentation on all Manufacturing Work Orders and Standard Operating Procedures

Display effective communication with both peers and management, ensuring that material is staged both promptly and accurately

Complete material transactions in the material management system

Ensure all counts and paperwork are accurate and timely

Operate stretch wrap machine and secure pallet load to pallet

Ensure proper loading/unloading of all trailer loads utilizing dock locks and other safety devices

Attach all necessary labels to materials

Maintain a clean and functional warehouse

Perform other tasks as assigned


Essential Skills and Experience:
Education or Equivalent:
Candidates should have a minimum of a high school education, prior pharmaceutical or food manufacturing/processing experience preferred;

the minimum level of total work-related experience required to perform the job is 1 to 3 years experience in a warehouse environment

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
Ability to operate various types of equipment related to warehouse operations, e.g., electric powered stand-up or sit-down industrial forklifts, pallet jacks, floor scrubbers and turret trucks

Ability to follow instructions and procedures (SOPs, cGMPs)

Familiar with cGMP and safe work practices

Basic mathematical and reasoning ability

Excellent documentation skills

Proficient reading and comprehension skills

Familiar with inventory control systems

Decision-making, technical and problem solving skills

Works well in a team environment

Physical Requirements and Safety Considerations of the Position:

Physical Requirements:
Work Schedule: Shifts of 8 or 12 hours in duration.

Essential Physical Job Tasks:
Creating, maintaining, and operating storage and organizational system of warehouse

Receiving shipments, placement of goods on shelves by lifting and carrying or use of work saver equipment

Distribution of support products to assist production staff as needed

Low to Mid level lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs

Maneuvering of drums varying in weight with push, pull and scooting for placement to and from 6-inch pallets (up to 80 lbs. of force)

Safe operation of work saver equipment for efficient bulk relocation of support products.

Use of hand trucks, pallet jacks and fork trucks when appropriate

Data entry

For maintaining incoming and outgoing shipments with corresponding identification for quality control

Coordination in industrial warehouse setting

Operating safely in a dynamic environment which includes mobile and fixed equipment and machinery with changing conditions while completing job tasks that range from simple to complex and/or multi-tasking

Safety Considerations:
Must wear safety glasses, or specified eye protection, in all designated areas

Must follow any applicable plant safety requirements

Must be trained in plant hazardous material procedures

Must use approved fall prevention devices when performing elevated tasks

Must be capable of wearing steel toed safety shoes for 8 to 12 hours a day, depending on duration of the shift

Environmental Conditions:
Will require occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, snow)
