The Material Handler/Expeditor is responsible for operating material handling equipment for the purpose of receiving, delivering, moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting production and non-production parts. The Expeditor is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and maintains material and parts inventory status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas, according to predetermined production schedules: Reads production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority. Records and maintains perpetual account of inventory (quantity and type) of materials and parts received, stocked, and distributed, manually or using computer. Compiles and maintains records, such as material inventory records, production records, manually or using computer. May direct or request information from other material handlers regarding the location or movement of inventory or inventory equipment to expedite transfer of materials from stock area to production areas. May examine material received, verify part numbers, and check discrepancies, such as damaged or unmarked parts. . May also be required to perform other duties as specified by management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Unloads inbound and loads outbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations
Stacks and stores merchandise in designated areas using a forklift, Tug, golf-cart, pallet jack, or other powered equipment
Ensures that the exact number and type of product is staged for daily production
Performs picking duties in an efficient manner meeting customer standards
Moves product from staging and/or storage areas into production areas.
Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods
Maintains appropriate records and reports to guarantee inventory control and security
Assists in physical inventories
Ensures proper stock rotation
Conducts cycle counts as requested
Job Related & Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and/or pull 50 lbs without restriction
Must be able to work in varying facility conditions.
Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed
Minimum Experience, Education, and Training Required:
High School or GED diploma
At least 1 year experience forklift experience on both sit down and stand up reach forklift and/or using warehouse distribution equipment
Willingness to become forklift certified
Familiarity with MRP & warehouse inventory management systems.
Attention to detail
Excellent communication & customer service skills
