SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Performs failure analyses and other laboratory analyses according to standard techniques and procedures. Performs various laboratory investigations under the direction of the Material Analysis Engineer/Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs failure analyses and write failure analysis reports.
Performs routine laboratory analyses including incoming raw material analyses, engineering analyses, dye penetrant analyses, optical microscopy analyses, black light inspection, solvent or acid decapsulation of electrical components and mounting and sectioning of metallographic samples; prepares reports summarizing work and results.
Equivalent to a high school education.
Two years as a lab technician or equivalent, or specialized training equal to two years of college or technical school.
Good laboratory, documentation, analytical and computer skills. Good oral communication and writing skills. Must be able to work in a group environment and with employees from different departments. Able to work with personal computers in writing reports; performing optical microscopy, analyzing data; and entering/ retrieving information from a database.
Skills / Certifications
Able to work with graphical, page layout software (Canvas X), word processing, scientific data analysis, image acquisition, database, e-mail and other everyday computer applications.
