Job Summary: Under the direction of the Supervisor of Purchasing, the Materials Handler is responsible for the daily coordination of all the functions and activities in the Receiving/Shipping department. The Materials Handler acts as the main contact for all day to day communications relative to the Receiving/Shipping department. Will include transporting goods by vehicle to and from outside storage building to hospital as required.

Essential Responsibilities:
Receive and verify all deliveries for completeness and accuracy.
Maintains hospital delivery vehicle in good condition, assuring appropriate level of gas in tank, and that regular maintenance required is performed on schedule, that truck is clean and doors locked when driver not in area.
Deliver and install toners to all lease copiers in the BIDN system.
Distribute all goods received to the appropriate departments and locations within BIDN and BIDMC system by driving or walking.
Enters all packing slips into the Meditech system via Purchase orders.

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required .
MA Driver's License with good driving record
0-1 years related work experience required.
MA Driver's License with good driving record
Up to one year experience in stocking, shipping and handling
Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.
