The position is located in the Property Management, Employment and Office Services Division, Office of Administrative Services, Chief Administrative Office, USPTO. The branch is responsible for printing and graphics service, forms design, the reproduction program, personal property management, warehouse services, and supply program.

The incumbent will perform duties including:
- Verifiying shipments by checking shipping documents.
- Matching specific item identification by name, stock number, letter, code, quantity, or unit of issue on containers.
- Unloading and processing incoming shipments.
- Examining all items received and informing the supervisor of any damage or defected items.
- Transporting materials from receiving areas to storage.
- Performing a broad range of standard storage assignments.
- Storing, stacking, palletizing, and/or rotating items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and special handling requirements.
- Applying material handling techniques in storing items providing for easy retrieval, convenience in handling, protection from damage, and ease of movement.
- Matching, checking, and comparing data on storage instruments with materials to be stored against materials already in storage locations.
- Consolidating and arranging items in accordance with the warehouse plan keeping aisles and other traffic areas clear of obstructions.

Element 3: Work Practices - Ability to manage and screen the availability of property and make decisions on the serviceability required before redistribution and skill in making sure the paperwork for acquiring and distributing excess/surplus property is complete and accurate.
Element 4: Ability to Interpret Instructions.
Physical effort and work conditions : Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 40 pounds. Dexterity and strength are also required occasionally when the employee pushes a cart weighing up to 200 pounds from one building to another, sometimes in crowded quarters. Must lift cart onto or off of an elevator that is not level with the floor. May handle heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Assists in loading and unloading trucks.
