The Master Planner supports achievement of the company’s customer excellence and financial objectives through demand, supply, and inventory management. This position is responsible for demand management including demand planning, distribution replenishment planning, inventory planning/management and corresponding supply planning coordination with various sites. The planner coordinates the monthly collaborative forecasting/roundtable process utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data to develop and/or refresh supply and demand plans. The planner implements and maintains distribution-center specific inventory replenishment policies and maintains global inventory levels so that customer service and cost objectives are met or exceeded. The planner must work very closely with marketing, sales, manufacturing/supplier operations, commodity management, customer service, as well as other supply chain personnel in effectively and efficiently aligning global supply and demand, driving customer excellence, and driving achievement of the company’s cost/cash objectives.
The Master Planner will coordinate product allocations required during periods of constrained supply, and also address the identification and resolution or communication/escalation of demand or supply issues. The Planner must possess the ability to quickly absorb information and analytical skills to break down complex problems into key elements for appropriate and effective action. Must be able to interact, communicate and influence in a professional manner at all levels in the global organization. The Planner will work with the manger in the development of continuous improvement opportunities to improve forecasting, planning, and execution effectiveness and efficiency. The Planner is responsible for the planning systems data integrity and planning parameter accuracy for responsible products. The Planner will be required to extensively utilize Microsoft Excel for data analysis, to also build and maintain queries/reports in MS Access and presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint. Additional information systems knowledge or experience would be an asset.
Demand forecasting - Experience or familiarity with demand forecasting utilizing statistical and/or computerized software tools. Ability to analyze historical product demand patterns, trends, and other business information in the development of monthly demand forecasts. Monthly collaboration with marketing/sales personnel in order to incorporate “marketing intelligence” into the demand forecasts. Works closely with Product Management in planning and managing product phase-in, phase-out, and other product life cycle phase transitions. Analyzes forecast deviations and works with others to develop/implement actions improving forecasting capability.
Distribution Requirements Planning and Management - Works with the manager in establishing and maintaining warehouse specific inventory levels including safety stocks supporting customer service and inventory objectives. On occasion monitors and coordinates inter-company product movement of inventory and trouble-shooting of related problems
Inventory planning and management - Works with the manager and supply planners in development of warehouse and in-transit inventory level targets.
Monitors/reports on deviations in actual vs. planned inventory levels. Development and implementation of corrective actions preventing future variances.
Travel Required 10% - both domestic and international travel is possible.
- Bachelor’s degree required in related field or 5 – 8 years of successful experience in area of responsibility.
- 3+ years of master scheduling / forecasting or planning experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
- Ability to handle a heavy workload and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Highly organized and self-motivated individual who can work both independently, and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal departments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to create and maintain basic production and material reports.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Strong MS Access skills a plus.
