As our Materials Specialist, you'll manage the material item approval and re-approval processes for Apparel materials by reviewing incoming test packets to ensure all requirements while keeping the material database up to date. You'll ensure all items approved comply with current global governmental regulations and Nike policies and insure consistency between similar items in the materials database. You'll prioritize approvals to meet targeted turn times and/or product commercialization timelines. You'll assist developers in interpreting lab test results as they relate to item approval. You'll customize Nike material development and production item specifications per category/vendor agreement. You'll complete material database maintenance updates (mass or individual) as needed. You'll lead and/or participate in process improvement initiatives and material-related projects as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Textiles, Apparel or a related field
  • 2 years' additional textile or apparel experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 1+ year of apparel industry experience
  • Textile testing, and material development knowledge/experience
  • Working knowledge of textile construction and other materials, processing and test methods
  • Ability to analyze information, physical samples and test results to determine appropriateness for Nike products
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and familiarity with Windows network applications
  • Ability to generate computerized reports and manipulate data
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentations
  • Proficient information seeking skills and drive for results
  • Ability to share ideas and develop effective responses or elevate to higher management
  • Ability to network and utilize internal and external resources
  • Strong organizational and creative problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated; ability to initiate and implement projects with little supervision
  • NIKE materials experience is preferred
