We are looking for experienced maintenance mechanics for our high speed beverage manufacturing facility. The successful candidates will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, routine repairs, install, and troubleshoot plant production equipment to optimize quality, productivity, and safety. SUMMARY To install, changeover, maintain, and repair plant equipment (either processing, packaging, or support equipment) to optimize quality, productivity, and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Perform regular and preventive maintenance on equipment to eliminate unscheduled downtime. * Perform changeovers in an efficient and timely manner.
* Train operators in Level 1 PM's and other mechanics in all aspects of equipment maintenance and operation (TPM). * Fabricate materials or rebuild parts to maintain and upgrade equipment as required. * Take corrective action as required by initiated work orders through the Maximo System or as circumstances dictate and write new work orders to account for unplanned corrective maintenance time. * Interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and exploded parts diagrams. * Initiate purchase of required tools, parts, and materials and maintain accountability for tools issued. * Use proper lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot works permits to maintain a safe environment and comply with EHS regulatory procedures. * Make recommendations for equipment upgrades and modifications, as well as mechanical safety procedures. * Upgrade skills and knowledge as equipment and technology develops. * Perform all work to reflect a personal commitment to quality craftsmanship and job ownership. * Discern quality product and container integrity in accordance with Ocean Spray's quality guidelines. * Notify Supervisor of mechanical breakdowns that will take ten (10) minutes or more to repair. * Become familiar with PLC's (Programmable Logic Controls) and ladder logic. * Report health/safety hazards to immediate supervisor or EHS Department and make appropriate repairs. * Participate in team process and maintain good customer,supplier, and employee relationships. * Perform all work in accordance with GMP's, housekeeping, good safety practices, and environmental regulations.
ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT PACKAGING MECHANIC FUNCTIONS * Learn basic computer skills as needed (i.e. e-mail, maximo, OEE). * Perform quality checks as required (i.e. can seam analysis, bottle cap torques, etc). * Relieve machine operators as necessary. * Enter significant downtime issues into the production office log (i.e. intermittent failure of rinser timing system). * Initiate purchase of required tools, parts, and materials utilizing the material request form. * Make recommendations for equipment upgrades and modifications as necessary. * Assist other mechanics and electricians as required.
Prefer 3 to 5 years maintenance experience in the manufacturing enviornment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Vision is required for safety reasons, to monitor product quality (specifically product color), to correct labels, and to read specification sheets or codes. Must possess good reading, writing and math skills. Good interpersonal skills associated with the need to work constructively within a team environment. Ability to work twelve (12) hour shifts. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write standard correspondence. Ability to read and interpret workplace graphics, tables, maps, instrument gauges, and diagrams. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to look up and calculate single-step conversions within systems of measurement (e.g. converting from ounces to pounds or from centimeters to meters) or between systems of measurement. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS * Forklift Certification is required. * Respiratory Certification is required. * Steam and refrigeration as required. * Welding as required. TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS: * Complete EHS training modules on an annual basis. * Maximo Training * Snorkel Lift Training * OEE Training * Hazmat Training to learn the proper application and disposal of lubricants, solvents, inks, and other hazardous materials.
