Senior Mechanical Design Engineer The successful applicant will occupy a key position in the Magnet Development Engineering Group. This group is responsible for the design of superconducting magnets for whole-body MRI scanners. Members of this group participate in cross-functional teams to develop new products and advanced technology.
      Responsibilities include:

      Design of structures operating at cryogenic temperatures, applying principles of mechanics & thermodynamics;

      Design to meet performance and cost requirements

      Design for manufacturability

      Researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials

      Technical risk analysis

      Preparation of design and test reports
      Participation in cross-functional design teams
      Participation in design reviews
      Technology development
      Executing work tasks to schedule
      Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Skills and experience required:
      5 yrs+ practical experience in mechanical design
      Proven track record in solving design problems
      Design experience in a field that is transferable to superconducting magnets and cryostats
      Expertise in: o
      Fabrication techniques o
      Metal joining techniques o
      Machining techniques o
      Materials Experience / knowledge in the following areas is desirable:
      Superconducting magnet & cryostat design principles and manufacturing methods;
      Gradient coil design principles and manufacturing methods;
      Design for ASME and/or PED pressure vessel regulatory code compliance
      Finite Element Analysis, ANSYS experience preferred
      Vibration analysis
      Product development
      Design and execution of experiments
      Project management Key attributes necessary for success

      : Oral and written communication skills

      Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

      Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting
      Able to produce high quality results under tight schedule pressure Education:
      Minimum BSc level in an engineering discipline or physics
