The Armor Group, Inc. is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our growing team. This position is responsible for planning, designing, and drafting detailed specifications of mechanical systems. Work is reviewed by inspection while in progress and upon completion .

If selected for this role, your responsibilities would include: · Coordinating with and consulting others to design, layout, or detail components of mechanical systems
· Modifying and revising designs to meet project specifications
· Laying out and drawing 3 rd angle projection to depict relationships of components, assemblies, and systems
· Developing detailed drawings and specifications for products using AutoCAD2D and/or 3D modeling package
· Submitting completed designs for review and approval
· Working under general supervision
· Preparing accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs)
· Additional tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager
Key requirements for consideration include: · AutoCAD and 3D package experience is required
· Previous design experience is required
· Associates in Engineering related field or equivalent experience is required
· High school degree or GED is required
· Two years of experience in the custom machine build business is preferred
· Experience working in an ISO 9001 manufacturing facility is preferred
· Experience with sheet metal, piping, and structural members
· Knowledge of the fundamental principles, methods, and practices involved in mechanical design
· Knowledge of the terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of mechanical drafting
· Ability to prepare designs and specifications for material and equipment needs
· Ability to prepare complex schematic drawings from rough sketches and verbal instructions
· Ability to understand and efficiently carry out complex instructions
· Ability to read and interpret blue prints, tech drawings, schematics, and computer generated drawings
· Ability to meet budgets and design milestones
· Ability to multi-task
· Design and engineering of custom fabricated sheet metal equipment, assemblies, and products
· Experience with root-cause analysis and problem solving preferred
· Performing accurate calculations to determine sizing of all required mechanical materials
· Effective written and verbal communication skills and experience presenting and explaining concepts to management, customers and vendors
· Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently as well as part of a team to meet deadlines
