Alion is actively seeking creative, highly talented individuals with significant submarine shipbuilding support experience in various major Navy submarine platform acquisition programs
Specific knowledge areas required and expected duties include:
Engineer leading PMS450T Hydrodynamic SIT for VIRGINIA Class Blocks III, IV, and V.
Coordination among the program office, technical warrant holders, Navy labs, and the submarine design yard through knowledge of fluid dynamics and exceptional engineering education.
Ensure the maneuvering and control objectives are met for future Blocks of the VIRGINIA Class by working closely with the NAVSEA tech warrant holder, NSWCCD and the Design Yard
Provide ongoing support of design and analysis efforts in preparation for Block V
Generate and obtain approval of program costs and schedules, and attend weekly meetings in support of future hydrodynamic assessments.
Lead upcoming SIT Hydro Tasks: Surfaced Turning Assessment, Block III FRM Testing, VPM FRM Testing, IAH Support, and Ongoing MCSIM Analysis
Route and obtain signatures for approval of letters in support of the Block IV RTOC Implementation Integrated Project Team (IIPT)
Manage the maintenance Periodicity Extension Proposal database for the IIPT to align maintenance plan with operation cycle goal
Bachelors Degree in a technical field/related discipline and 5-7 years of related DoD experience required. MS in engineering desired. Education and work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
Must possess knowledge of SSBN or SSN submarines. Either of the following may be acceptable:
- Submarine officer designation code 1120 (warfare officer) experience or
- Civilian with at least 5-7 years submarine experience gained working in NAVSEA headquarters or other DoD related agency.
Must possess submarine acquisition experience in Virginia Class submarines, program management, knowledge of acquisition documentation, and hydrodynamics required. Experience with Submarine RTOC desired.
Must be articulate in oral and written presentations; possess high organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines. Must be a self-starter, possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work directly with senior government clients to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner independently or with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and technical communications skills required.
Candidate must able to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance.
