Position Overview:
Lead other engineers and designers in the generation of product designs, which meet customer/specification requirements, are highly reliable, and can be produced at the lowest possible cost. Be able to apply all forms of basic mechanical engineering methodology and analysis to assigned engineering tasks. Provide direct support for the Project Engineers.

Primary Responsibilities:
Thoroughly review, understand, and in some cases write product specifications, and determine design requirements and scope of work.
Generate and/or review design concepts in conformance with above, and ensure that adequate trade studies and analyses are performed to arrive at optimum design configurations.
Have a solid proficiency in Cad solid modeling to be able to prepare Cad L/Os, Cad detail designs, and direct others in the creation of designs. Schedule and coordinate with the Drafting and engineering groups on preparation of drawings, perform engineering drawing check, review all GD&T, and approve same prior to release.
Identify and/or create design verification testing requirements, qualification, certification testing, and coordinate with test and certification departments.
Be the focal for engineering support of new hardware fabrication.
Support and/or create budgets and schedules on appropriate design activities.
Be the design focal with all other functional groups and departments as required in the development of the product design.
Use and suggest new department computer technology in an independent and productive manner, including creation of custom applications if required.
Have a working knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes and be able to train others in these areas.
Must adhere to all EH & S regulations and policies as well as attend required training courses related to EH & S
Follow the EH & S roles and responsibilities in accordance with the Cargo Policy MP5322.

Basic Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge of all modern engineering mythology and computer technology for design purposes.
Have leadership skills and have applied them in a mechanical design environment.
4. Minimum of 8 years experience in one or more of the following areas: mechanism/machine design, electro mechanical systems, aircraft cargo systems, or aircraft structures, along with having a minimum of 2 years experience in leading other engineers and/or designers.
