Mechanical Engineer – Menlo Park, CA
The Mechanical Engineer will design mechanical systems, custom machining, sheet metal components, plastic injection molded components, chemical reactive injection molded components, optical components of a product; specify the standard off-the-shelf mechanical components, including static and motion components; and communicating with vendors for resolving problems and fabrication issues. The Mechanical Engineer will design mechanical components and sub systems that meet high standards of product requirements, which include robustness, ease of assembly, ease of service, low fabrication cost, and professional finish.
Design machined components, sheet metal components, mechanical systems, testing fixtures, manufacturing fixtures, injection molded components, and chemical reactive injection molded components.
Assemble mechanical sub-assemblies and test mechanical sub-assemblies.
Specify standard off-the-shelf mechanical components and trouble shoot mechanical systems.
Conduct mechanical stress simulations, air flow analysis, tolerance call-out of critical dimensions, draft angle and gate location for an injected molded component.
Create mechanical drawings, prepare slides for design reviews and manage engineering documents and Change Order release, write up change order documents to release engineering documents to manufacturing.
Communicate with vendors for parts fabrication, fabrication issues and presenting solutions to effectively resolve complications, deliver re-work items to vendor as required.
Conduct material transfer process to acquire inventory materials for constructing engineering unit.
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
Three to five years experience mechanical engineering of commercial product development including design of machined components, sheet metal components, mechanical systems, testing fixtures, manufacturing fixtures, injection molded components, and chemical reactive injection molded components.
Proficient in SolidWorks 3D Design.
Proven experience with both static and dynamic mechanics, stress simulations, air flow analysis and tolerance dimensions.
Demonstrated experience working effectively in cross functional teams and building effective vendor business relationships.
