We are looking for a talented, junior level, mechanical engineer for our Research and Development group contributing to new product design from concept to production. This person will be part of the team working with other mechanical/electrical/product engineers developing mechanical components and rugged enclosures for state-of-the-art, next generation military and industrial grade vision systems. Thinking outside the box, generating new ideas, and being open to feedback from senior team members is required.
Daily responsibilities will include providing program support through computer modeling and hand analysis (primarily thermal with some structural), generating new ideas, running experiments, designing mechanical parts and assemblies, generating CAD models and drawings, documenting engineering concepts, generating bills of materials, and solving manufacturing and procurement problems. The candidate will have the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and push hard to meet deadlines.
BSME or MSME Must have BSME from ABET accredited school with minimum of 3-6+ years experience. Exceptional candidates with a MSME and 1-4+ years of experience will be considered.
Must have product development experience specifically with taking a design from concept to production. Electronics packaging and assembly experience is a big plus. Must have solid knowledge of heat transfer theory and the ability to apply that using either hand calculations or FEA. Experience with ANSYS products or other finite element modeling software is a plus. Experience with ANSYS Icepak is a big plus. Must be hands on, self starter, and have the ability to learn new concepts on the fly. Must be proficient with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Pro/E, Inventor, etc. and willing to learn SolidWorks. Must be able to generate engineering documentation such as design reports and drawings. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of 2D AutoCad, 2009 or later, is a plus. Experience using product data management engineering change tools such as Agile or PDMWorks for engineering change notices and CAD database is a plus. Knowledge of machining process and GD&T is a plus.
