We are a fast growing company and are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to join the Speck engineering team. As our products have shorter life cycles than most products, the key to success in this position is to be able to get high quality products to our customers before our competition does! What You Will Do: Manage, support, motivate, and grow a team of engineers (up to five).

We need a strong manager. You should have demonstrated success in your management skills/experience that can contribute team°s success Design and engineer the mass production of products using your expertise and leveraging your team ’s strengths. You are accountable for the successes and shortcomings of the group. You understand product industrial design, product styling, and user ergonomics.

Using that expertise, you will create products with high customer appeal ratings. hands-on, detail oriented. We are a design focused company and we protect the cases for the gadgets you love. We will be focusing on implementing process over the next few months.

You will be responsible for building and implementing process in creating an environment that fosters growth and scalability. You understand the consumer electronics industry including part/product design, materials, integrated electronics, manufacturing, product quality, and operations. You understand all of the intricacies of design tolerance and dimensioning, as well as statistical analysis of data (CP/CPK). You know how to diagnose inefficiencies in materials, part manufacturing methodologies and processes, good knowledge of injection molded parts, and rapid prototyping methods.

A plus to have some experience with fabrics, PU leather, soft goods like high end sports footwear or soft goods products. What you need to have: College degree or equivalent experience. A mechanical design view on process and methods to success. A minimum of five years of relevant work experience; experience must include the management of 2-3 people through a product development cycle from concept to production.

Experience developing and designing consumer electronics type products with a focus on innovation, clever fits, finishes, and function. Experience with injection molded plastics. Computer skills, proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and Access. Must have at least a year or more of experience in 3D surface and/or part design using Solid Works, Pro E or other 3D Design software.
