Position Title: Media Aide

Summary: Coordinates the daily activities of the school media center

Student attendance days

Monday-Friday; 5 hours per day

$8.01 per hour (entry level) plus benefits and single plan insurance

Maintains an inviting atmosphere in the media center.

Checks books in and out for students and teachers.

Checks out audiovisual material to teachers.

Checks in periodicals and prepares them for use in the media center.

Shelves books and keeps shelves in order and neat.

Mends damaged material.

Assists students and teachers in locating materials, using the computer catalog.

Orders bulbs for overhead projectors and other equipment .

Recommends items to be purchased for media center.

Assists in weeding out-of-date, damaged material.

Produces and distributes overdue notices.

Maintains patron database by adding/deleting student and staff information.

Coordinates or assists with book fairs once or twice a year.

Performs minor AV equipment maintenance.

Maintains regular attendance.
Supervises students.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (A) Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education which meets the requirements to obtain an EVSC substitute certificate; or (B) obtained an associate's degree (or higher); or (C) met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics by having passed the state approved formal Para Pro Assessment.

Ability to operate a personal computer. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of, and in compliance with, corporation policies and state requirements.
