PCC is seeking applicants for the position of Media Relations Specialist. The position reports to the colleges Media Relations Director and is primarily responsible for creating video-recorded news content that can be distributed to public media organizations and news outlets and posted on social media websites. The position will also be responsible for assisting college marketing staff with the creation of video content for advertising and working with faculty and staff to review media options and programming needs. In addition to assisting with the management of social media initiatives and providing content for those sites, the position will provide other communication services as needed in the following areas: writing, editing, photography, graphic design, college website updates, PowerPoint/slideshow presentations, etc.

Media Relations Specialist
Bachelors degree in journalism or communications is required.
Two to three years of experience as a news journalist is preferred. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience in multimedia production through employment or internship, familiarity with managing social media sites, and knowledge of graphic design and photography.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, operate video and audio recording equipment, and utilize state-of-the-art production tools to design, edit and produce video content. They must possess a working knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop – Illustrator – Flash – InDesign – Premier – Dreamweaver – Acrobat), and presentation software (PowerPoint – Keynote) and equipment.
Candidates will also have the ability to prioritize, organize and schedule work assignments and projects. They will be able to work individually on multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those they interact with during the course of work.
Occasional night and weekend work required.
