Description Wayfair.com is looking for an experienced Media Relations Specialist to join our growing Public Relations team. Our Specialist will be responsible for proactively securing media coverage for both Wayfair.com and Joss & Main, pitching to media outlets on both a local and national level and building rapport with the reporters/editors. The ideal candidate has a passion for both PR and the home space and can gracefully leverage our accomplishments as well as our catalog to help us solidify our place as a dominant brand in the marketplace.
Proactively develop newsworthy story angles by analyzing company data and industry trends
Drive national media coverage for Wayfair.com and Joss & Main
Pursue company features in top national media outlets (business and consumer)
Partner with internal departments to gather supporting data and information to drive media pitches
Build and maintain relationships with reporters and editors
2-4 years of relevant experience (PR or Journalism) with a proven track record of success in crafting newsworthy stories/pitches
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter with the drive and determination to secure measurable results (media placements)
Strong understanding of social media channels
Understanding of how the media works (deadlines, editorial calendars, etc.)
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with senior level executives
Knowledge of current events and pop culture
