Oakton is seeking a Media Services Video Engineer for the Des Plaines, IL campus to:

*
Responsible for technical performance of video recording systems, switching equipment, cameras, closed circuit, broadcast, streaming, and other distribution and ITFS/EBS transmission systems and their associated controls including preventive maintenance and repair.

*
Serve as System Administrator for the Digital Medial Library. Provide the technical support, create authorized digital copies of media, load content, format access points and create descriptor metadata.

*
Provide technical support for digital streaming production and events and lecture capture initiatives. Troubleshoot and resolve streaming video network problems. Work with vendors on complex issues and hardware/software support and replacement.

*
Serve as production engineer during video productions, including studio and remote locations.

*
Provide technical support for college-wide data networks for digital and streaming video, requiring knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and scripting.

*
Maintain an in depth knowledge of video technology including hardware, communications, and networking technologies (LAN, WAN and Wireless). Review new developments in video production, distribution, audio and other related fields on an on‑going basis.

Maintain currency with the FCC actions related to the EBS services band and their impact on the maintenance of Oakton's EBS/(ITFS) channels.

*
In concert with Public Safety and Human Resources support the video portion of the IP Security camera system; in collaboration with College Advancement support the college digital signage system.

*
Evaluate and recommend supplies, materials and equipment for the technical operation of video production systems. Operate, direct the repair, and maintenance of production equipment

Maintain records and equipment logs relating to video and studio activities and present reports when requested

*
Produce, write, and direct media programs with administrators, faculty and the Oakton community.

Provide general Media Services department backup and support.

Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; two years of audio/video engineering or equivalent related work experience; working knowledge of the basic technical operations involved in network operations; and the ability to work some evenings and weekends. Experience or exposure to video and TV studio production, digital media, microcomputer operations, switchers, non linear editing, and multimedia systems; experience or knowledge of EBS (ITFS) broadcasting; detailed knowledge of the design, installation, and maintenance of closed circuit distribution systems and digital signage; two years experience with IP protocols in routed networks; Perl, Unix shell, or other scripting language experience; and technical repair experience and knowledge of microcomputers are desired.

This is a full time position that works Monday - Friday, 8:15 am - 5:00 pm and is compensated $58,090 annually.
