Job Description

MEDIA SUPPORT SPECIALIST, Office of Digital Learning, to develop and coordinate the creation of media and video for learning projects supported by a new educational initiative seeking to enhance education with online offerings including MITx and OpenCourseWare. Will assist faculty-centered project teams with creating video-based educational materials; consult with and provide support to faculty developing tablet-based tutorials, standard video lectures, animation, images, graphics, diagrams, and other media content for online courses/learning modules; recommend design and video approaches, develop quality standards, share best practices, and support end-to-end workflow; design information and create images, diagrams, and animations; develop storyboards and write scripts for short video and multimedia projects; produce short introductory videos; evaluate and recommend media technologies and formats, deploy self-service hardware and software, train and support end users, and prepare web-based guides; oversee schedules and inventory; and manage video crews and postproduction process.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, media, art, or education; at least three years' video production support experience, preferably in an educational setting, and at least two working on deadline-oriented productions; strong working knowledge of online learning video production technologies/methods (tablet, PowerPoint, video capture, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and social media tools); experience configuring, testing, and deploying hardware and software; experience coaching/supporting nontechnical users; detail orientation; ability to adapt to the changing requirements of a fast-moving environment, manage multiple and diverse tasks and deliverables, and meet deadlines; excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to build strong working relationships with faculty, students, vendors, and business partners; solid understanding of media production, graphic and information design, and post-production methods for online courses and multimedia training.
