IHA has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant. This position works under the direction and supervision of professional clinical staff and with provider oversight, this position assists in the examination and treatment of patients by tracking patient information, documentation to the medical record, assistance with in office procedures and testing, administers medications and provides patient and caregiver education.
Receptionist duties may include greeting individuals arriving at the office and ensuring that their needs are met. Obtains necessary patient registration information at each office visit. Answers telephones in accordance with IHA telephone etiquette guidelines. Schedules appointments and confirms appointments by phoning patients prior to the visit. Verifies patient insurance eligibility. Takes and relays messages in a timely manner.
Completes patient encounter forms and collects payment. Maintains familiarity with billing and managed care department basic services and hours of operation to respond to customer requests and may post charges or codes into the billing system.
1. Certified Medical Assistant (or is eligible to attain CMA within 6 months of hire);
2. Two (2) Years previous clinical experience
or equivalent combination of specialized education and experience.
3. High level of proficiency using a computer system with the ability to efficiently utilize EMR templates, NextGen and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word).
