Requirements:
1. AAMA Certified medical assistant (CMA), American Medical Technologist Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Center for Competency: National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or National Allied Health Test Registry: Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA). The employee must provide their supervisor with proof of valid certification within 90 days of their start date. Failure to do results in termination of employment.
2. Certification in CPR. The employee must provide their supervisor with proof of valid certification within 90 days of their start date. Failure to do so results in termination of employment.
3. It is the employee’s responsibility to maintain current/valid Medical Assistant and CPR credentials, as spelled out in this job description. Failure to maintain such credentials or allowing them to expire will result in disciplinary action up to and including discharge from the organization.
1. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
2. Graduate from a high school or GED.
3. One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting preferred.

1. Knowledge of exam, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
2. Ability to maintain quality control standards
3. Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
4. Ability to react and communicate clearly, calmly and effectively.
5. Working knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed.
6. Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
7. Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting.
8. Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
9. Perform care according to age specific competencies.
10. Daily clinic preparation process; registration, scheduling, charge posting, order entry.
11. Able to document and communicate pertinent information
12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff. Ability to work effectively in a team.

Mandatory Requirements:
All CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who provide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.

Job Description:
The Medical Assistant performs routine delegated clinical patient care duties in the health system medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the office runs smoothly. The delegated tasks are within the supervising physician’s scope of practice and consistent with the medical assistant are education, training, and experience.
