The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to physicians in Atrius Health's new Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine practice. Located at 90 Libbey Parkway in Weymouth, the practice opens on Monday, April 15, 2013 and will serve as a regional referral site for Pulmonary, Congestive Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder and Sleep medicine referrals.
This non-exempt position is responsible for performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinical services.
Position requires high school diploma or GED and medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution. Minimum of one year of experience working in a medical facility; ambulatory practice and pulmonary practice experience preferred.
Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture and injection experience required. Position will entail greeting patients, performing vital signs as directed by physicians, collecting relevant patient health and history information, performing a variety of screening assessments, and rooming patients. Position includes a variety of administrative duties including sending and obtaining patient health information, verifying insurances and patient demographic information. Position involves fulfilling practice environmental responsibilities including room set-up, cleaning and cycling rooms, adhering to infection control guidelines, and ordering and storing supplies. Position involves fulfilling organizational responsibilities including promoting patient rights, responding appropriately to emergency codes, reporting problems related to patients or staff.
