Performs routine patient care functions such as physician assistance, patient placement, testing, information gathering, nursing duties, chaperoning, supply maintenance, scheduling, and conflict resolution. Greets patient respectfully and courteously while preparing patient for their exam. Takes and records vital signs including heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, body temperature, in EMR. Notes all current patient medications in EMR. Assures any expected test results are in EMR for provider to review with patient. Assures patient information has been updated and patient is ready for physician. Discusses with patient any expectations they may have for their visit with their provider. Alerts patient to provider delays that may affect the patient. May collect samples for testing by provider's order. Prepares samples for analysis. May assist provider during exam as requested. May make patient referral appointments. answer routine questions from patients or family, and will return phone messages during each clinic session. Under direction of physician or other medical personnel may administer medication to patients. Documents all patient encounters appropriately in EMR. Will assist 2-4 providers on a daily basis including both faculty and resident physicians as well as physician assistants while working with the health care team at the Family Medicine Center to provide excellent health care to our patients.

Department Preferences
Certified as a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant, and have CPR certification. Medical terminology useful.
Experience in working with electronic health record
Outpatient clinic experience preferred

Required Education and Experience:
Education: High School diploma or GED

Experience: 6 months experience in Patient Care
Equivalent/ Substitution: Will accept training in lieu of experience
