The Medical Device Integration (MDI) Analyst is responsible for the operational administration and management of the applications and configuration of systems that support the automatic capture of readings from biomedical devices. The MDI analyst will ensure the data capture in standard HL7 format that can be reported to an electronic medical record. This position requires the analyst to be the central point for troubleshooting problems and identifying the correct support resources needed to correct any data flow problems.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Plan and manage development of new hardware and software interfaces by MDI application vendor.
  • Works with Applications team, Biomedical, Vendors, and other resources in developing specifications for new interfaces.
  • Configure the MDI application.
  • System monitoring to ensure that automatic monitoring is functioning correctly.
  • Troubleshoot problems and indentify the correct support resources to correct any data flow problems.
  • Ensure that QA/QC testing processes for integrating any new devices are successfully complete before new devices are allowed to transfer information to production environment.
  • Plan and manage development of new hardware and software interfaces by MDI application vendor.
  • Review proposed new Biomed equipment for conformance to established MDI standards.
  • Manage upgrades to MDI software and hardware with vendor.
  • Work with Biomedical Engineering to ensure that equipment configuration and setup for transfer of data is documented.
  • In order to achieve the documented interface requirements, uses Java/Javascript programming languages to code computer instructions and successfully map HL7 to EMR.
  • Develops and maintains documentation to describe program development, supporting documentation, logic, testing, coding revisions and corrections.
Education, Training, and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Computer Science.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Object Oriented programming experience preferred.
  • HL7 Medical Device Integration experience preferred.
  • Epic and Orion Rhapsody a plus.
