Our client is an innovative, high-growth medical device manufacturer that is developing first-in-class technology in the critical care market and is expanding their operations. A full product pipeline has led to the need to expand in select areas, and we are looking for a strategic marketing professional to lead multiple product launches over the next two years.
The Senior Marketing Manager will be responsible for all lifecycle management activities for a line of novel devices used in interventional cardiology. This is primarily a downstream, US marketing assignment on a small team where you will take on a broad range of strategic and tactical responsibilities. The focus will be on launching new products in the US that have already been successfully commercialized in Europe and Asia. Specific duties include market segmentation, positioning, messaging, medical congress planning, and sales force training and support. You will also work closely with Key Opinion Leaders in the cardiovascular community to develop them as advocates for this new technology.
The small size of the marketing organization means that you will “wear many hats” and interact with executive management on a routine basis. You will present and defend strategic recommendations based on extensive analysis and market research. And you will motivate and train the sales organization in support of product launches. The significant customer interaction and trade show component to the job means overnight travel will be in the range of 25-40%. We are building a bench of leaders for this high-growth organization; new marketing employees will be expected to advance at least two levels above their point of entry during their career.
We are looking for someone with the following qualities needed for success in this role:
The position will be based in Southern California (San Diego County). Financial assistance for relocation to the Bay area will be provided.
- 6+ years of medical device industry experience, including sales and marketing (sales or sales support experience is required)
- 3+ years of headquarter based marketing experience working with medical device products
- Successful product launch experience
- A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” within a small team, and to travel extensively
- Bachelor’s degree or better; MBA preferred
