Job Description:
The Medical Director is a physician serving the hospital through teaching, consulting and advising both the case management department and the hospital on matters regarding physician practice patterns, over and under-utilization of resources, medical necessity, compliance rules and regulations, collaborative and relationships with payers and the community. The Medical Director is a key member of the hospital's Care Management/UM team charged with meeting goals of quality and cost.

Doctoral degree in Medicine, MD or DO. Current active - unrestricted - Florida Licensed as a Physician. Qualify as a provider under Medicare or Medicaid programs. Valid and unrestricted Federal, and State Registration to prescribe, dispense and administer controlled substance(s). Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. A minimum of 10 years clinical practice experience in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

Experienced in:
Utilization and Care Management.

Managed Care Contracting.

Familiarity with medicine and managed care reimbursement policies.

Prior management, leadership experience in hospital, managed care, or medical group practice.

Knowledge of federal healthcare regulations; aware of regulatory and enforcement agencies.

Knowledge of performance improvement principles, ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints, excellent verbal, and communication skills.

Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution.

Ability to effect good medical staff relationships and work effectively with all healthcare disciplines.
