A Medical Laboratory Assistant III (MLA III) is a health care worker who can perfrom a variety of pre-analytical tasks in the laboratory. Must be skilled in collection and processing of all laboratory specimens. Provides clerical assistance for billing, troubleshooting, data gathering, and verification of lab orders and labels. Position is responsible for shipping/receiving of supplies, blood products and specimens. Able to do department record keeping and supply maintenance. Offers excellent customer service by answering phones and helping customers with questions and dispensing products as needed. A MLA III utilizes all necessary computer systems, proficient at reviewing documentation for accuracy and en efficient problem solver.
High school diploma or GED plus completion of accredited phlebotomy/laboratory program at the technical school or associate degree level. Five years of experience.
Must have state approved certification per GA Rule 290-9-8 such as PBT (ASCP), MLT (ASCP), CLT (NCA), MLT (AAB), HEWMT, MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MT (AAB) certification or equivalent.
Individual must have exceptional organizational and computer skills. Needs excellent customer service and decision making skills.
