LSInc is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician Instructor.
Overview of position: Provide education and training in the major disciplines of the clinical laboratory to include clinical chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, immunology, microbiology, parasitology, urinalysis, blood donor center operations, specimen collection and processing and laboratory operations/management. Provide training and instruction in a two phase implementation process. Phase 1 is the resident portion at the Medical Education and Training Center (METC) and Phase 2 is the clinical portion conducted at military and civilian medical treatment facilities. Quality assurance and safety techniques shall be emphasized throughout the program. Must be able to deliver subject matter through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, online materials, simulations and laboratory practice. Resulting in providing graduates with knowledge and technical skills required to achieve medical laboratory technician competencies, and meet basic requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD) Clinical Laboratory Improvement Program (CLIP). This instructor taught program shall prepare the laboratory technician with the skills and knowledge to perform laboratory procedures at a medical treatment facility (MTF) under the supervision of a qualified laboratory technician/technologist. The program will consists of multiple courses. All courses must be completed successfully to pass the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program.
Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist and certification as a Medical Laboratory Specialist (MLS) American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC), or Clinical Laboratory Specialist or Medical Technician, or be a graduate of the United States Army or United States Navy Advanced Medical Laboratory Specialist/Technician course prior to December 1994 and three (3) years of full time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology and Clinical Microscopy in the U. S. or an accredited laboratory within the last ten (10) years.
Knowledge of instructional techniques and training methodologies in order to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise training programs. Must have completed, or be able to complete, the Navy Journeyman Instructor Training Course or other service equivalent instructor training course within 30 days of hire or as soon as training seats become available. A candidate, who meets all the requirements except the Navy Journeyman Instructor Training course, maybe scheduled to attend the next available course.
Experience utilizing a variety of instructional technologies, training equipment, and teaching methods to incorporate the principles of adult learning into teaching practices.
Security requirements: __ National Agency Check, Local Agency Check and Local Credit Check (NACLC) investigation at a minimum. Local Agency Check and Local Credit Check must be submitted and results received prior to commencement of work
