The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for the prompt, efficient, and accurate performance, validation and reporting of laboratory test results which are utilized for the purposes of prognosis, diagnosis, treatment, and research. Specific duties include phlebotomy, performing lab tests in compliance with department and regulatory procedures while following quality control and assurance, safety and infection control procedures. Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, parallels, linearity and troubleshooting. Accurately reports tests results to appropriate parties' i.e. Criticals, and documentation. Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory (supplies) levels in the lab. Training other techs, phlebotomists and other students/staff/volunteers as deemed necessary. Aids in developing new policy and procedures. Participation in Meditech development, proficiency testing and inspection readiness. Other duties as assigned. Reports to the Director of Laboratory. 2. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associates degree Medical Laboratory Science. Military equivalent with clinical rotation and ASCP certification acceptable. Experience and Qualifications: Medical Laboratory Technician with 1-2 years of generalist experience. Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills Demonstrates emotional maturity and ability to function effectively when under stress Organizational and prioritizing skills are essential Licenses/Certificates: Current MLT (ASCP) certification preferred. Current MT(AMT) acceptable. Must complete/maintain required annual competencies per hospital policy. 3.
