Overview:

The Clinical Trainer is responsible for developing and conducting formalized department-specific training programs for both clinical and non-clinical Medical Management staff. This includes both department-specific onboarding/orientation and on-going department-specific training. The Clinical Trainer will research, design and develop educational plans and tools to meet the requirements of individuals and groups in the Medical Management department. The Clinical Trainer will work in collaboration with the ODHR Training and Development Manager to ensure that training content, training scope and topics do not overlap or contradict each other.

Qualifications:

Required:

- Registered Nurse

- Bachelor's Degree

- 5+ years experience in an health care setting

- 5+ years experience in Care Management/Utilization Management

- 5-7 years experience in a managed care setting

- An understanding of medical management data relationships

- Excellent written communication skills and skill in developing and writing reports and presentations

- Excellent verbal communication skills and skill in presenting to large audiences

- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and to interact, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels of management

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously in a deadline driven environment

- Confident team builder and leader with strong motivational skills

- Adept in problem solving and resolving conflict

- Effective negotiating skills

- Must have outstanding time management and organizational skills

Preferred:

- Extensive experience in a medical and/or managed environment ( 10 + years)

- Clinical experience

- Familiarity with Case Management Software System- Acuity®

- Supervisory experience, or experience leading or mentoring staff

- Demonstrated ability to teach and be understood

- Ability to identify learning needs for professional and para-professional staff

- Ability to research and develop education plans

- Proficient in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

- Responsible for educating all staff in basic managed care information as it relates to department functions, programs, processes and systems ( beyond introductory training that is handled by ODHR) appropriate to the position ( s)

- Develops implements and updates department-specific training manuals to reflect new approaches to training, department-level system process changes and new managed care programs

- Oversee and mentor new employees during the initial department-specific training program

- Coordinates with appropriate Team Lead ongoing department-specific orientation needs for new hires and arranges preceptors

- Work closely with the leadership team and subject matter experts external and internal to the department to determine department-specific training needs and assess the learning environment to determine relevant resource

- Works collaboratively with the ODHR Training and Development Manager to ensure that training areas and scope do not overlap and that training content does not conflict / contradict each other

- Educate staff in the clinical policies criteria and procedures of Medical Management, as well as an overview of the department, general functions and responsibilities, department relationships with other departments

- Ensures that the ODHR Training and Development Manager is kept informed of changes / adjustments in inter- and intra-departmental roles and responsibilities so that the Neighborhood’s Employee Orientation program is kept up-to-date

- Educate staff in basic managed care information such as departmental-level system training appropriate to the position ( s)

- Ensures that the ODHR Training and Development Manager is kept informed of any functional changes that would impact on Neighborhood’s Employee Orientation Program, Basic Systems training program or other functional training provided by Neighborhood

- Prepare all training materials and develop training packages and all related materials assigned by leadership

- Provide on-going training and support to Medical Management staff

- Participate in development, testing and implementation of new programs and systems as assigned

- Development of training modules using Abode Captivate training software and Adobe Connect meeting / training registration portal / website

- Acts as a point-of-contact for neighborhood’s Training and Development Manager relative to organizational training efforts, individual training requests and coordination, and specialized training / development efforts for Medical Management staff members

- Other related duties as assigned
