The primary purpose of this position is to maintain medical records in accordance with federal and state guidelines, as well as in accordance with our established policies and procedures, to assist in assuring that a complete medical records program is maintained.
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a working knowledge of medical terminology and ICD.9-CM coding.
Must have good communication skills.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be able to read, write and understand the English language and speak it in an understandable manner.
Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the essential functions of the position can be fully met.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
Must possess leadership ability and be willing to work harmoniously with other people.
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Must be able to maintain regular attendance.
Works in an office area as well as throughout the facility.
Moves intermittently during work hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, etc.
Is subject to all-back during emergency conditions.
